Re: RFP - Seeking Disaster Equipment Cache List VendorPosted by Connie Hughes (72.242.130.194) on June 13, 2006 at 15:21:25: In Reply to: RFP - Seeking Disaster Equipment Cache List Vendor posted by Stephen Guth on January 18, 2006 at 15:13:26: : The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (“NRECA”) is a national trade association representing the interests of more than 1,000 consumer-owned cooperative electric utilities located in 46 states (www.nreca.coop). : In 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused wide-spread damage, which resulted in numerous NRECA Members working together to respond to restore electrical service in impacted areas. In Hurricane Katrina alone, over 7,000 linemen from NRECA Members throughout the United States participated in restoration efforts. : An NRECA Member task force sponsored by NRECA following the 2005 hurricane season indicated a number of areas where NRECA could provide value to its members during disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, fires, and ice storms. Specifically related to this document is the role of NRECA in coordinating an equipment cache list to provision basic shelter and sustenance to mobilized emergency crews. : To this end, NRECA is in the process of developing an RFP to obtain a turn-key solution with one (preferably) supplier to supply the entire equipment cache list within 24-hours of a disaster declaration such that a mobilized emergency crew is self-sufficient for at least 72-hours. : If you are a vendor that is interested in receiving the RFP, please contact me at stephen.guth@nreca.coop.
